In 2020, the world faced one of the most chaotic and disruptive times in recent history. A global pandemic, COVID-19, swept through the world, leaving destruction and fear in its wake. People were forced to quarantine, stay home, and avoid any unnecessary contact with others, causing unprecedented levels of isolation and anxiety. Individuals from all walks of life faced incredible challenges.

With all live music events being put on hold, many musicians were left struggling to earn an income from their craft. However, amidst all of this uncertainty and upheaval, some musicians came up with unique ways to connect with their fans and stay afloat. One such artist was Jesse Wagner whose approach was an innovative one. Even though he was facing difficulties similar to other musicians, he used his platform to bring people closer together during a time when social distancing restrictions had made it hard for people to connect. By taking song requests from his fans and dedicating them to their loved ones, Jesse played an important role in helping people express their emotions and stay close to each other. It did not matter what genre of music it was. Whether someone wanted a classic rock number, a pop song, or even a country tune, Jesse was always up for the challenge. For one particularly dedicated individual, Jesse’s commitment to his craft is evident in the countless hours he spent studying songs and recording them using a variety of tools including an old laptop, crappy mic, guitar, and midi keyboard. By utilizing different recording software such as GarageBand, FL Studio, and Logic, he was able to refine and hone his skills to create fun music that truly showcases his talent.

Dedications For Donations is a long awaited compilation of 40 songs recorded as those dedications. The album showcases his versatility as a musician, as well as his ability to connect with people on a personal level.

Wow, this is an excellent release. I’m a bit of a Slackers obsessive, and after one listen this stands as a great unique release. Having Vic on piano gives many of the songs a different arrangement that I really dig. By far the highlight of this recent spate of Slackers obscurities. jahverson
